Dear members,

going to Declan's concert was a fantastic experience, and that inspired me even more to create a stronger community of mature fans for Declan. By mature I am not referring to age, but to the actual understanding and appreciation of Declan's music and lyrics.

That is why we created this forum in the first place, trying to be what FOD once was. I came to realize that forum was very alive because Declan's presence, and anyway FOD now would be so much different because he is not a kid anymore.
I like our SDG, and have no intention of closing it. However I am wondering if there could be a better way for us to be. There are reasons why people prefer Facebook or other social networks, if only we can make it so that more people find it easier to join us.

So this is a question for everyone. What do you like about this forum, what is it that you don't like? What is useful or what do you think is missing? Most important, what would make it better? What would make you log in more often, with more ease?

I agree advertising is a good, but we do need more active members.

Yep, that is something we can do. When we did it though we noticed that many were reluctant to learn how to use a forum, and most were just too used to Facebook.
Another limitation is that you don't get notifications of activities. Without Declan as apart of the forum there are very few people who are interested in checking the posts and be an active member of the community, no matter how many ideas, games, topics we can think of. No criticism, that is just how things are right now and I guess we will have to deal with it : /
However there must be some place in between the two worlds.

I thought maybe we could create a blog with a forum section, and find a way so that people can log in via Facebook (more and more websites now offer this option), and then even create a group on Facebook were we can share the blog posts, so it's even more accessible to Facebook users, but still be outside it.

I agree that most of our members want to stay on a FB oriented forum because it's easy to access and I also agree that SDG has not been advertised except on WFOD and maybe a timeline page or two.  However, things are in the works for something new and different and we are excited about it so stay tuned!   

I usually do get on Facebook first so the idea of the blog that had info about the forum is a good idea.
